Hangar 18 live at The Vista Entertainment Center
Vista, CA
March 1, 2003
Hangar
18 made its debut in the San Diego area at the Vista Entertainment
Center in Vista. Also on the bill was San Diego Judas Priest
tribute Hell Patrol and hardcore/thrashmeisters Malice 420. The
Vista Entertainment Center was an interesting venue, with bowling
downstairs, and a small concert hall and meeting rooms adorned
the upstairs
area.
In
fact, Hangar 18's dressing room was normally used for Traffic
School during business hours.

Guitarist Marty "Vic" Doty
made an impressive debut as a part of the Hangar 18 team, filling in
for Mikey Friedman, who is on hiatus. Marty flawlessly tore through
a set
filled
with difficult
solos, having picked up a multitude of Megadeth tunes in a short amount
of time.
Keep an eye out for more Marty in the shows to come!

Dave Scott Chedrick Samuelson has been spending a lot
of time in Hollywood these days. Starting this spring, Dave will
be honing his craft at the reknowned Musicians Institute, as if he
didn't kick a ton of serious ass already! Dave displayed his drum
prowess in a solo that elicited a wild response from the audience.

The stage was unusually tiny, but Hangar 18 made the
most of the small amount of space available. In fact, the stage was
so tiny, that Fro Mustaine's amp and cabinet actually sat directly
in front of Mellefson's. Despite the weird equipment configuration,
the sound was excellent both onstage and off, thanks to the efforts
of a killer soundman. Thanks, dude!

Playing in Vista was a homecoming for frontman Fro
Mustaine, who used to dwell in the hills nearby the Vista Entertainment
Center.

Mellefson rips out a chord during the intro of the band's moniker,
"Hangar 18".

Vic Rattlehead unleashed!! This awesome guitar cabinet
cover, and its mate on the opposite side of the stage, were crafted
by shredmeister Marty "Vic" Doty.
